This week, we have been busy revisiting centers throughout our classroom, reviewing our class rules, our playground rules, and many of our routines.
On Monday, we revisted the Discovery Center, which is Math and Science combined. We discussed what we can play with, who we can pretend to be, and how we can remember where to put things when we are done playing with them.

During the month of August, the children and I are very busy experimenting in the Science Lab! Today we have been learning about states of matter- solids and liquids.
The children were given jars of heavy cream and we discussed how it was a liquid. We took turns shaking the jar while listening to music and was amazed that after a few minutes, it had turned into WHIPPED CREAM! We enjoyed using our sense of taste to taste the whipped cream and enjoy it with pieces of fruit!

We will then follow a bee inside our own make-believe honeycomb! The children will get to know the queen bee and the other jobs in the hive.
In our science center, we will watch a brand new butterfly appear! We will watch our litter caterpillars wrap themselves up in a chrysalis and go through the process...

The month of February is all about health foods and being fit. This week we are focusing on the food groups and today was all about dairy.
During opening circle, we discussed the foods that we eat that are made from dairy and were introduced to the ABBC pattern.
For our life science skills, we discussed how many stomachs we have and the children guessed how many stomachs they thought a cow has. I gave each child a cow body parts page and encouraged them to cut the pieces out...
