During the month of August, the children and I are very busy experimenting in the Science Lab! Today we have been learning about states of matter- solids and liquids.
The children were given jars of heavy cream and we discussed how it was a liquid. We took turns shaking the jar while listening to music and was amazed that after a few minutes, it had turned into WHIPPED CREAM! We enjoyed using our sense of taste to taste the whipped cream and enjoy it with pieces of fruit!
For our fine motor skills, the children enjoyed our Squirting Ice Toddler Tray Play! The children were given their trays that contained water, a bowl of crushed ice and a squirter. They sucked up the water and squirted their ice. They were amazed to see the ice melting!
We were introduced this morning to the number 2. We explored our sensory number two card, making a number two with playdough on our playdough mats and counting out two fish with our counting fish cards. We also used gator grabbers to pick up two molecules(cheerios) and place them into a bowl! We discussed how some "molecules" were close together and some were far apart.
